2011 Parade of Homes, Part 1
Colorado Springs Parade of Homes is just around the corner: August 5th - 21st. LGA Studios designed or consulted on a number of the homes in this year's parade, including Ron Covington Home's standard plan the “Madison.”*
The “Madison” model home on display is in Covington Home's neighborhood Broadmoor View. This location is a huge perk. Many of the new developments in Colorado Springs are on the edge of town, whether north, east or south. Not Broadmoor View. Just south of the downtown and NE from the Broadmoor area, it is planned using the urban standard of Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND), which values density, community amenities and efficient pathways (for vehicles and humans alike) to add richness to living in that area of the city.
The TND principals determined both its central location and the layout of the neighborhood with extras like a community garden.
Our plan is part of the 'Traditions' series (in that the exterior has Craftsmen style detailing) but still has a very open and contemporary floor plan, including a Great Room open to the second story. Also note that the garage door is to the rear of the house, which keeps the front less cluttered and gives the entry a human scale.
