Something we love most about our jobs as designers is understanding how setting informs and interacts with built spaces, and this home – brought to life beautifully by Colarelli Custom Homes – embodies that idea artfully.

Inspired by the raw, rugged, and natural beauty of Colorado, our clients came to us with a vision of a home with an industrial edge as well as modern elegance. The end result is a home that is both a statement and a sanctuary, perfectly balanced in the stunning scenery that can be viewed through every large window in this home. 

Balancing Industrial Edge with Warmth

The key to this project was balance. Our clients loved the raw appeal of industrial design – think exposed steel, concrete, and stone – but also wanted their home to feel inviting. To achieve this, we kept the spaces light and uplifted through vaulted ceilings and oriented the floor plan to make sure every window took in the best vistas, while anchoring the home through statement fireplaces, the kitchen island layout, and lower level bar. The final material choices, fixtures, and lighting all work together to execute this vision perfectly. 

Designing for Flow and Function

The layout was designed to flow naturally, perfect for both everyday living and entertaining.

• Open Spaces and Natural Light: High ceilings and large windows were crucial in keeping the space open and airy. Natural light was a powerful tool to soften the industrial elements and create a welcoming atmosphere.

• Living Area: The great room – with its open floor plan and outdoor living access – is the heart of the home. A stunning concrete fireplace adds warmth without losing the industrial feel.

• Kitchen: In the kitchen, we balanced professional-grade functionality with a warm, open atmosphere. Stainless steel appliances bring in the industrial vibe, while custom cabinetry, marble countertops, and organically shaped lights add elegance.

• Bedrooms and Bathrooms: These spaces offer a serene retreat, with balanced proportions and a refined color palette creating a tranquil environment.

Designing this refined industrial home was an exciting challenge that pushed us to think creatively about how to best reflect our clients' vision. We adored working with our clients and their team, and we’re thrilled to see the end result!
