Colorado Ranch Lifestyle - A Home Trend with Intention

The past couple years have led to a lot of adjustments and reevaluations about priorities in life and how we all choose to spend our time. With so many dramatic changes to everything, from how we travel and see friends and family to how and where we work over the course of the pandemic, most of us have been home a lot more than perhaps we had before. Our homes have had to become our offices, our theaters, our restaurants, and our hobby and play areas, and that’s led to a more thoughtful approach to home design. We wrote about this early on in the social-distancing era in this blog post: Finding Home Design Inspiration During Your Quarantine.

Our clients have always come to us with a unique vision for what they want in their custom homes, and this global experience of being cooped up has brought even more creativity and intentionality to how each of us relate to our living spaces and how our homes can serve our busy lives even better. We’ve heard the same thing from our building industry colleagues and peers as well, and we loved reading what our good friends at Shea Chappell Luxury Homes had to say on the subject in this article by Liz Cobb from Colorado Springs Magazine.

Charlie and Nancy Shea and Lain and Barbara Chappell describe an emerging home trend in local home building and architecture that they call the “Colorado ranch lifestyle.” This type of home offers an easy, flexible floor plan made for larger, rural plots of land that provides room for hobbies, outdoor living, working from home, and comfort. Views, outdoor spaces, and open concepts with beamed ceilings bring this style to life and keep it comfortable year round.

Best suited to clients interested in country living, Charlie Shea stated that “The Colorado ranch lifestyle is about a special place with versatility.” “We found that people wanted to redefine their work and home spaces so there was some separation,” added Lain Chappell. “The folks we talked to are looking for a setting where work and family can be enjoyed, but there is peace, tranquility, and the ability to have other hobbies.”

Well done Shea Chappell Luxury Homes for your thoughtful take on this building trend! Creating spaces that are in alignment with how clients want to live and that sync up with their priorities is the goal of every professional in the custom design and building industry, and you’ve created spaces where people thrive.
