Black Forest Revival
In the summers of 2012 and 2013, Colorado Springs was devastated by two massive wildfires, destroying hundreds of homes and thousands of acres. LGA Studios is proud to have been part of the rebuilding process for many families who lost everything, designing homes that provide peace, comfort, and beauty as they move forward.
The Black Forest Revival home was featured in the 2014 Parade of Homes and was designed for a family whose home was lost in the Black Forest Fire of 2013. The home draws on Prairie Style architectural influences, with gently sloping roofs, clerestory windows, and organic lines and materials that allow the home to integrate seamlessly with nature.
Plenty of tall windows offer scenes of falling snow and passing wildlife, and the interior is filled with charm, including a cozy built-in breakfast nook and local timber and stone accents.
The open layout of this floor plan takes advantage of its beautiful setting and views of Pikes Peak, and the home features modern details that enhance this family’s daily life, such as richly stained concrete floors that keep bare feet warm using geothermal energy and radiant floor heat, a wood-burning stove, and a pizza oven.
The stunning outdoor living space—surrounded by stone pillars and nestled amidst pine trees—is perfect for entertaining and enjoying warm evenings as the stars come out. The covered patio space won the Industry Award of Excellence for Best Landscaping in the Colorado Springs 60th Annual Parade of Homes.
