Colorado Springs Historic Architecture Tour
The American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) Conference was hosted in Colorado Springs this year, and this summer’s theme was “Defining Your Architectural Style.” The AIBD always puts together a great conference and often includes local tours as well, and this year Larry Gilland was delighted to help put together a tour of some of the historic architecture of his hometown!

Architectural Travelogue - Miami Art Deco
As a building designer, one of my favorite things to tour while on vacation is the local architecture. I'd never visited the Miami Art Deco District or seen the grand beach hotels that make this city so iconic, so when the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) hosted their conference in Florida, I made it a point to spend some time in Miami for a little architectural field trip.

Touring Denver's Sacred Spaces with the Historic Preservation Alliance
Earlier this summer, Larry and Mary Gilland had the chance to go on the annual field trip with the Historic Preservation Alliance of Colorado Springs! This year took them to Denver to tour the best Sacred Spaces of the city. Architect and Architectural Historian Chuck Benson led this lively and informative tour, highlighting architectural treasures in our own backyard.

Mary’s "Meandering"
It's funny what you notice when you live with, travel with, and work with architects, designers, urban planners and landscape architects. Larry Gilland and I came to Grand Junction for him to attend some classes, and me to wander the streets, (and get some work done too).
