Happy Holidays from LGA Studios
As the holiday season wraps us in its festive (though often chaotic) embrace, we’re sending warm wishes to you and yours. May this time of celebration be filled with joy, laughter, and some well-deserved relaxation!

Rocky Mountain Food Tour
Our office went on a Rocky Mountain Food Tour in September, and we had so much fun! As a hardworking group of mostly introverts, our office had been looking for an activity to do together to kick off the last quarter of the year. We all share a fondness for our beloved downtown, history, architecture, supporting local businesses, and, most importantly, food, so this was a perfect afternoon out for us!

Surveying the Green
A day out on the golf course is one of Larry’s favorite ways to unwind. Here, he describes how this relaxing pastime also helps hone critical skills he uses on the job too, such as surveying sites and thinking about home orientation.

Watching Our Neighborhood Grow
We’ve had a lot of new development and construction in the sites surrounding our office lately, and one of the newest projects we’ve been watching is this new apartment complex going in behind us.

Thank you to the people who have made our business what it is
As people get older, I think we all begin to reflect on our lives and wonder where the time has gone. This year at LGA Studios, we’re celebrating 40 years in business (and 41 years in marriage between Larry and me). As I look back, I can’t believe how quickly those years have passed, while at the same time I can’t forget all the hard work, perseverance, and ingenuity that has gone into maintaining a business for this long. In reflecting, I of course think about all the incredible homes and projects that kept us creatively challenged and pushed us forward, as well as the truly wonderful clients who shared their visions with us and entrusted LGA Studios with the remarkable task of designing their dream home.

LGA Studios celebrates 40 years in the custom home design business
Larry Gilland & Associates, Inc – doing business as LGA Studios – was established in 1982 in Colorado Springs, making this our 40th year in business as a custom home design firm! Where did the time go?! It’s not every day that a small business reaches such a milestone, and we owe it all to the incredible clients we’ve had the honor of working with over the years, as well as the peers and colleagues we’ve been privileged to collaborate with, and, of course, our dedicated team. Today, we wanted to take a look back at where we came from and highlight some of the steps that tell our story along the way.

New Mural Across From Our Office
Our office has been located on E. Las Animas Street for many years now, and we love being in this creative district of Colorado Springs, filled with new museums, restaurants, and art. Now, we have the city’s largest mural directly across from our parking lot, giving us even more beauty to fill our view!

Continuing Education - International Code Council Conference
A few weeks ago, the Colorado Chapter of the International Code Council held their 37th Annual Educational Institute – back in-person again! LGA Studios sent most of our team members up to Loveland, CO to attend courses for continuing education in matters related to code. We take these classes in order to keep ourselves sharp and up-to-date on current Colorado building codes. These conferences also provide an opportunity to learn new technologies and become better, more well-rounded designers.

Valentine’s Day Tea-m Meeting
Our weekly team meeting gives us a chance to track and update each other on every project our office is working on. This week, our meeting fell on Valentine’s Day, so we decided to dress it up by making it a tea-m meeting – complete with fancy tea and treats.

Happy Holidays from LGA Studios!
Happy Holidays from LGA Studios! We had an office potluck this week where everyone brought some fantastic goodies and holiday specialities to share. We always love spending time with our team and being able to celebrate and be grateful for one another and for what we get to do for a living.

Happy Halloween from LGA STUDIOS!
We love sharing a workspace with TDG Architecture—especially on days like this! As you can see, the members of LGA Studios and TDG Architecture got into the spooky spirit of Halloween with a little team-building costume contest.

Colorado Springs Historic Architecture Tour
The American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) Conference was hosted in Colorado Springs this year, and this summer’s theme was “Defining Your Architectural Style.” The AIBD always puts together a great conference and often includes local tours as well, and this year Larry Gilland was delighted to help put together a tour of some of the historic architecture of his hometown!

Happy New Year!
Well, 2020 certainly has been one for the books. Although we’re looking forward to saying farewell to some of the stresses and inconveniences we’ve all dealt with this year, we also look back in gratitude for the people in our lives and all the ways we’ve grown.

Social Distancing? We're happy to meet with you by video conference!
LGA Studios is taking every precaution in terms of supporting our team and our clients during this unprecedented time. We’re prioritizing the health and safety of our community as the coronavirus situation unfolds, encouraging team members to work from home and following recommendations to practice social distancing.

Architectural Travelogue - Miami Art Deco
As a building designer, one of my favorite things to tour while on vacation is the local architecture. I'd never visited the Miami Art Deco District or seen the grand beach hotels that make this city so iconic, so when the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) hosted their conference in Florida, I made it a point to spend some time in Miami for a little architectural field trip.

Habitat for Humanity Ground Blessing
Larry Gilland and Shannon Baumgartner from LGA Studios were honored to attend the “Ground Blessing” ceremony on November 28th of a new duplex project on East Dale Street that we’ve been working on with Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity.

A Special LGA Studios Project - Through an Intern's Eyes
Over the past several months, LGA Studios has had the privilege of working on a project for Habitat for Humanity, a true honor for us. Shannon Baumgartner has been an intern with LGA since July and she has been extremely involved on this project. Just in time for the holidays, Shannon put together her take on the behind the scenes process, to the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas!

Touring Denver's Sacred Spaces with the Historic Preservation Alliance
Earlier this summer, Larry and Mary Gilland had the chance to go on the annual field trip with the Historic Preservation Alliance of Colorado Springs! This year took them to Denver to tour the best Sacred Spaces of the city. Architect and Architectural Historian Chuck Benson led this lively and informative tour, highlighting architectural treasures in our own backyard.

2018 AIBD ARDA Awards - Best Conceptual Design
LGA Studios was honored to receive an award for Best Conceptual Design at the American Institute of Building Design's Annual Meeting in Philadelphia last week! The American Residential Design Awards (ARDA) is the AIBD’s premier award program exhibiting design excellence in the residential building industry. It spotlights the most creative and innovative residential designers, builders, remodelers, architects, developers, land planners and interior designers in the nation and recognizes exceptional design.

LGA Studios Interview with Springs Magazine
LGA Studios was proud to be featured in the Spring issue of SPRINGS Magazine in an article by Cameron Moix all about current home style trends and how to make your space more inspired. We were also excited that the magazine chose to photograph a fabulous custom home LGA Studios designed in the Broadmoor Bluffs area to feature in the pages of the article, a stunning contemporary home that was a joy to design.
